An island in the fog

Off the Icelandic coast line of the southern East Fjords, we looked over to this island that was only just peeling itself from the fog.

The Long Walkway

This is the walk way out to the beach in St. Peter-Ording at the North Sea. In the fog. In winter.

Behind the Salt Flats

The salt flats and dunes in St. Peter were showing their winter colors when we went to hike there in February.

Winter's edge

Winter may be on its way in and out and there we had it, this edge of winter. However the snow got formed this way is beyond my knowledge and I think I don't even want to find out. I thought it was neat to look at.

St. Peter Beach

The beach in St. Peter-Ording, Germany, is famous for the pole houses. The beach is wide and large and very exposed. The sands are shallow and storm tides rush over them every now and then. The houses do not suffer. And they are scenic.

There are several of those houses in groups out there - restaurants, beach maintenance and toilets - but in the fog I am pretty unable to show you the full extend.

Winter Beach

We went to the North Sea last weekend. We were expecting strong winds, maybe rain and some pretty intense weather.

What we did get was absolutely windstill times and tough fog. Two days straight, plus another day of the same but lighter fog. Well, unexpected but do-able.

Here is a first view of the beach with mild spotting of snow.

Venetian Canale Grande

Canale Grande - March 2011

We dashed down to Venice, rushed around town, enjoyed what we got to see and took photos all around. 3 days were great and we got to see a lot. But they were enough, not enough, over too soon, just what we needed.

Well, I can't really say. If I had known that we would spend longer there, I would have taken it slower and visited more of the art galleries and such. Being there for 3 days got us around well, though.

So: take your chance, visit town, even if you can just do it shortly.

Hi There!

This dog was being friendly to us while waiting for the owner outside the church in Lübeck, Germany.

Balloon

This view over Hamburg we had to skip. The wind was gushing up - they said. And while it was fair down on the ground, we did not get to take a peek from up there.

Valentine's Day

I took a special photo for Valentine's Day lately. I was working on the theme week of Come To Life 2013 for last sunday. Check it out, there I used another one of the same set.

Here is to all the Valentine's around the world.

Ich habe für diesen Valentinstag ein spezielles Foto gemacht. Ich habe an einem Bild für unsere Themenwoche bei Come To Life 2013 gearbeitet. Schaut mal vorbei. Dort habe ich ein anderes Bild desselben Sets.

Dieses Bild ist allen Valentinschätzchen rund um die Welt gewidmet.

Random view

In the concert house in Dortmund I spotted the new VIP lounge - sponsored by a hardware store. Well, why not. The milk glass was presenting the strange view of the people inside.

Bautzen

This is Bautzen last summer. A city that is really worth seeing.

Dies ist Bautzen im letzten Sommer. Eine Stadt, die wirklich einen Besuch wert ist.

Frauenkirche

This is the world famous Frauenkirche in Dresden. Unfortunately there was no permission to take photos indoors. I can only show it from the outside for that reason. But I assure you: It is great inside!

Soft Summer Light

This is a soft summer light on a thorny plant. This experiment with counterlight and the warm evening sun is a success, I guess. I am just sorting through old archives, in case you wonder about the topics.

A ruin of a Church

This is the outside of a church ruin in Bautzen, Saxonia.

And the view down from there.

A narrow path

This is a path in a river medow. Every time I get to it in the summer time, the path is covered in snails.

I am surprised how narrow of a depth of field I got at f/4.5.

A cornfield in summer

I know it is entirely out of season now, but I just came across this photo of a corn field on the edge of town that I took this summer. I thought maybe you want some sunshine, too.

A Tub with Feet

This was our hotel bathroom in an old abbey in Portugal last spring.

A bend in the river

This is the river near my house. Black and white, end of January on the last good day of this snow episode.

Harrison in the Snow

I don't know if you follow Come To Life 2013 - but I wish you did.

We present our project at least on Sundays, every week of this year. But we also do all these inbetween posts that you should check out.

Last sunday, Harrison was struggeling through some pretty deep snow - happy about his new leather jacket.

Who is Harrison? What's about his leather jacket? What snow? If you ask any of these questions, you are not up to date. So go, check out the project! Now! I mean it, no joke.

But if you can answer all these questions, you may still not know anything about his hike through the snow, or do you?

Here is one more photo, yet, of that walk - brought to you by Come To Life 2013!

Oh, and tomorrow morning at 8 a.m., European Central Time, we go on with another weekly post of all 7 characters.

Double Touch Down

This is a touch down in the snow field.

I wish I knew what bird it was. Does anyone know?
