When in the Faroe islands in January of 2023, we only had a week, but we tried to make a lot of it. We summarized each day in 2 or 3 videos for ourselves. We found them fun and that is why we will now share them here.

Today I am bringing you a little video from the Côte Granit Rose. These waves are crashing to the back of the rocks that the little house, posted on the first of July, is placed in between. What a crazy place to build a house and live.
When I was watching the garden through the kitchen window, out in New Hampshire, I was seeing the chipmunks running around. They were especially keen on the sunflower seeds that they picked from the flower heads all day long. After a while I was noticing this little guy here that was pretty much flipping out in trying to catch this flower head. I kept watching him and was giggleling along. Then I grabbed my camera and went outside to sneak up on him. It actually worked without scaring him off and I got to take this sequence of video for you. I hope you enjoy it just the same.
Als ich den Garten aus dem Küchenfenster beobachtete, in New Hampshire, flitzten die Streifenhörnchen überall herum. Sie waren besonders scharf auf die Sonnenblumensamen, die sie den ganzen Tag lang aus den Blütentellern zupften. Nach einer Weile habe ich diesen kleinen Kerl bemerkt, der total durchdrehte, bei dem Versuch, genau diese Blüte zu erreichen. Ich habe ihm kiechernd eine Weile zugesehen. Dann habe ich mir die Kamera geschnappt und habe mich draußen an ihn angeschlichen. Es hat tatsächlich geklappt ohne ihn zu verjagen und ich habe dieses Stück Video von ihm mitgebracht. Ich hoffe, Ihr habt damit genausoviel Spaß!
This is a video of the Kavadi Dancers at the temple festival in Hamm, North Rhine Westfalia, Germany. Really hard to imagine that these festivities take place in Hamm - of all places - every year. In 2014 it was officially estimated that the Sunday celebrations (of several days of the event) were visited by more than 20,000 people.
I know I have linked this Video before. But I think it wasn't the best day to do it. Not too many payed attention to blogs on xmas day.

This year I was using a camera that does movie, a Canon 60D. And I finally have some good movie programms to use and work on the footage as well as do animation. We have done video before, but I was not majorly in charge in the past. I am taking my first steps in the video world, so please don't be too hard - but do let me know what you think about it.
I made the map in the video myself and animated it. And I am pretty proud of it.
Dieses Jahr habe ich eine Kamera mitgenommen, die gute Videos macht, eine Canon 60D. Und endlich habe ich gute Videobearbeitungs- und Schnittsoftware. Wir haben auch früher gefilmt, aber dafür war ich nur in geringerem Maß verantwortlich.
Ich mache gerade meine ersten Schritte in der Video-Welt, also seid nicht zu hart. Aber laßt mich wissen, was Ihr denkt. Die Karte, die Ihr im Video seht, habe ich übrigens selbst gebastelt und animiert - und ich bin recht stolz darauf.
We went to Oceanário, Europe's biggest aquarium in Lisbon, and had a great time. The layout and the exhibits were just really well thought out. But the most impressive of all was the center tank that was luring you in with the big showcase windows. Sun fish, Sharks, rays of different types, tuna, swarms of fish and so on.
Here is a first little snippet of video from me. I will view and review all my footage soon and make a longer sequence - also with music - but for now, here is a teaser and a first glimps for you.
Wir waren im Oceanário, Europas größtem Aquarium in Lissabon, und hatten eine tolle Zeit. Der Aufbau und die Ausstellungen waren sehr gut aufgebaut. Aber das Beeindruckendste war das große Becken, das einen mit seinen riesigen Schaufenstern hineinzog. Ein Mondfisch, Haie, Rochen verschiedener Arten, Thunfische, Schwärme kleinerer Fische und so weiter.
Hier ist ein erstes Stückchen meiner Videos. Ich werde mein Material in der nächsten Zeit sichten und aussortieren um eine längere Sequenz zu machen, dann auch mit Musik unterlegt - aber für den Moment ist hier als Anreiz ein erster Blick für Euch.

Have you guys seen Klara Harden? She made this wonderful video of hiking through Iceland on her own - Made in Iceland - and I really recommend it. I did link it here, as well. Now she - and another film maker - are out for another project. They want to cycle through Madagaskar - on a photo and filming trip made possible by crowd funding. Interested in making this happen? Curious on what this is?
Of course if anyone wants to support this... that sounds great.

Just for info: I "got to know" Klara because of here Iceland video I stumbled upon on the net. I did connect to her via facebook afterwards to tell her, what a great job she has done on transporting the feel of such a trip. Other than that I only follow what I find on the net - and I like it!
Lately I stumbled across this video. I do not know Klara who made the video, but I did contact her after watching the video and got her permission to write about her video here.
On our trips to Iceland we have been thrown into situation after situation. We do not film ourselves but the self portrait video of Klara is a great teaser for me to act differently next time. She really captures an Iceland experience in all colors and all moods.
She will probably like more views on her video and I would like to get you all to see the film. It is really worth watching. I will keep an eye on further projects of her, just in case she will publish more.
Ich bin neulich auf dieses Video gestoßen. Ich kenne Klara, die dieses Video gemacht hat, nicht, aber ich habe sie anschließend kontaktiert und habe ihre Genehmigung bekommen, über dieses Video hier zu schreiben.
Während unserer Islandreisen wurden wir auch von Situation zu Situation geworfen. Wir filmen uns nicht, aber das Videoselbstportrait von Klara macht irgendwie Lust darauf, es auch mal zu versuchen. Sie hat wirklich die "echte" Islanderfahrung in allen Farben und Stimmungen eingefangen.
Sie wird sich vermutlich freuen, mehr views in ihrem Video zu finden und Ihr Euch hoffentlich über den Film. Er ist es wirklich wert. Ich werde ein Auge darauf haben, ob sie zukünftig noch mehr Videos veröffentlicht.
We are just back from Iceland again. Two and a half weeks of great vacation and great people! Since really I am almost afraid to find out about the total number of photos we took... Here is just a quick teaser. These few seconds of pan over Hornvík,Hornstrandir, are a good start,though.

When we looked at the volcano in Iceland, March 2010, (Fimmvörduháls) we took videos, too.
The videos are taken by my husband, (who has his own blog here) but I want to show them here among the photos:
The actual erruption has formed a big pile of ashes that are between us and the main fissure. We therefore only see the fountains going up behind it. The lava flow, though, comes down towards our side of the mountain. It is better visible in the darker pictures and videos. In the daytime footage it is only the steam that comes up from it, that you can really see.
The lava streams were relatively slow so motion of the streams is not destinct in the videos but the darker it got, the more we could see of actual motion.
