Lighthouse

The lighthouse in the harbour of Roscoff, from another angle but the same night as the one I showed last week.

Plouescat Market Hall

When continuing our road trip through Brittany we came to visit the awesome timber frame market halls of Plouescat.

Church and Birds

The church towers in northern Brittany were very diverse and changing up in style. What was pretty common with them was the amount of ravens circeling them and landing on them.

The harbour is filled

Here is an image of the harbour of Roscoff with the tide fully in. Do you remember the images I showed a few weeks ago about the empty harbour? Look back in the blog history and see what it looked like just hours before these images here with the bottom of the harbour fully exposed and all the ships on the dry.

The Church of Roscoff

When walking from our hotel to downtown in search of a place for dinner we came by the city church. The towers with the see through building style are really common in the area of Roscoff and seem something like a local specialty.

The water is coming back

As the water was coming back we left the view and checked into our hotel in a nice, local place not too far away from here.

The man in the Harbour

If a man was in the harbour, all the way on the bottom of the basin, I would normally be worried.

This here, though, was no issue for me at all. It was more a question of waiting for the right moment when the man, dressed in dark stepped infront of the part of the wall that was lit brightly to contrast off of it.

The harbour

This harbour was so remarkable to us that we took a series of images.

A dry harbour

When we got to Roscoff we had not intended to stay there for the night. We actually had not quite figured out, yet, where we wanted to stay, so we broke out the maps and started planning. While doing so we enjoyed the view of a very unusual harbour. Despite the fact that the high tide was coming in again already the water level was so low that the entire harbour was dry. People were walking around big ships and smaller boats on the ground of the harbour.

We watched the water come back while deciding to stay and booked a hotel online that was just on the other side of downtown.

A window to the coast

This coastal layout is really amazing. Rocks piled up to the sky in some places and sometimes, if you climb around a little, you get to see some really pretty views through a window in the rock. This is the lighthouse next to the Eiffel house.

Côte Granit Rose, Brittany.

A broken horn

The gargoyle in the top of the building I showed you yesterday was missing one horn. Good omen or bad?

Gargoyles

This building, on the hiking path at the côte granit rose, Brittany, was decorated with gargoyles, weathered down by the ocean weathers.

Eiffel House

Not a tower, not Paris. But the Eiffel House is located on the côte granit rose in Brittany.

Beautiful Bay

This bay was way more filled in when we came by on the hike back. On the hike out it looked prettier. So here is your image: Côte Granit Rose.

A gate in the rock

Here are rocks piled up in the strangest ways. These here form almost a perfect gate to watch the crashing waves through.

Red Rocks and some birds

The côte granit rose in Brittany is really toned red. Here you see some really pretty rocks with some birds on them.

Climbing

There are the wrong shoes. Really the wrong shoes. But the rock is forgiving. It is sandpaper on the hands and I was not happy climbing on it.

A funny rock monster

I walked by this rock on the côte granit rose and I had to - irrevokably - think of a rock monster. A green, froglike monster. And I do not get it out of my head. May I introduce you?

Here it is, for all of you that wonder if you can actually see the same monster I saw:

Ocean Video

Today I am bringing you a little video from the Côte Granit Rose. These waves are crashing to the back of the rocks that the little house, posted on the first of July, is placed in between. What a crazy place to build a house and live.

Birdy

This bird was fluttering along next to us for a little bit as we hiked along the côte granit rose, Brittany.

The light in St. Malo

On our trip to France, this spring, we went to visit St. Malo, the ville close.

It's all about the house

This house is a well known site in France and is one of the landmarks of the Côte Granit Rose, Brittany.
