The first weekend of November 2012 I spent in Berlin for a user meeting of an online community. I did spend my first day there mostly outdoors enjoying some splendid fall weather. Some of those photos I did already show here.

City Building

In Berlin, the skies were almost doomy lately. But the light made them shine especially cool. These cranes dominate Berlin in my eyes ever since the building madness has reached the city in the 90s.

In Berlin wirkte der Himmel neulich beinahe bedrohlich. Aber das Licht ließ ihn ziemlich cool aufglühen. Diese Kräne dominieren für mich das Stadtbild von Berlin, seit der Bauwahn in den 90ern die Stadt erfasst hat.

 

The girl on the bike

I loved the scene with this girl riding her bike through the leaves.

Ich fand die Szene toll, mit dem Mädchen, das durch das Herbstlaub fuhr.

 

City Views

Going to Berlin lately I took some time to cruise the city with my camera in hand and my eyes open.

This scene caught my eyes in the museum district.

Als ich neulich in Berlin war, habe ich mir die Zeit genommen, mich in der Stadt herumzutreiben und die Kamera bereit zu halten. Diese Szene fiel mir auf der Museumsinsel ins Auge.

Potsdamer Platz

I get to stay in Berlin every once in a while for private or job reasons. Sometimes I can use those stays to explore the town by camera.

Here is a night time photo of Potsdamer Platz with the Ritz Carlton in the background.

Ich komme immer mal wieder nach Berlin, entweder aus privaten oder beruflichen Gründen. Manchmal kann ich diese Besuche nutzen, um die Stadt mit der Kamera zu betrachten.

Hier ist eine Nachtansicht des Potsdamer Platzes mit dem Ritz Carlton im Hintergrund.

Brandenburger Tor

This side view of the Brandenburg Gates in Berlin I took on midsummer night with beautyful blue hour lighting. The angle I chose is a bit unusual but it made the hight show up and anyone has allready seen the front and backside too many times, right? No? Well, I did take pictures from other sides, too.

Diese Sicht auf das Brandenburger Tor habe ich in der Mittsommernacht fotografiert, während der blauen Stunde, die mehr als eine Stunde dauerte. Ein wenig ungewöhnlich im Winkel, aber dadurch kam die Höhe schön zur Geltung. Bilder von der Vorder- und Rückseite, die ohnehin schon jeder kennt, habe ich auch fotografiert. Die Bilder zeige ich dann bald.

 

Berlin Government district

The government district in Berlin is light up at night and therefore lends itself to HDR photography.

Here is the side of the house of representatives. I wish politics were as see-through as these buildings!

Das Regierungsviertel in Berlin ist nachts interessant beleuchtet. Daher bietet es sich für HDR-Aufnahmen an.

Dies hier ist die Seite des Abgeordnetenhauses. Ich wünschte, Politik wäre so durchsichtig wie diese Gebäude!

The Berlin Dome - inside

I went into the Berlin Dome today. This HDR is one of the shots I took. Unfortunately I was told after a few minutes that tripods were not allowed. I got some picutres taken before that happend so I can show what I made. The HDR is a 3 shot auto bracketing work, processed in Dynamic Photo HDR.

Ich war heute im Berliner Dom. Dieses HDR ist eins der Bilder, die ich dort gemacht habe. Leider erzählte man mir nach ein paar Minuten, dass Stative nicht erlaubt waren. Hier ist aber jedenfalls eines der Bilder, das ich bis dahin machen konnte. Die Aufnahme besteht aus 3 Bildern einer automatischen Belichtungsreihe, entwickelt mit Dynamic Photo HDR.

I admit: More may be possible in the development and tonemapping, but I only have a little netbook here and can not really get all the details out. I may publish this HDR again at a later point after more work.

The pictures are from a night in Berlin in March 2010. 

The pictures are HDR photography which the illuminated buildings are ideal for.

Diese Bilder habe ich im März 2010 in Berlin gemacht. Alle Bilder in diesem Post sind HDR-Aufnahmen, für die sich die angestrahlten Gebäude besonders eignen.

Brandenburger Tor, Berlin, March 2010, HDR


One of the rare occasions that there is not a crowd infront of the Brandenburger Tor due to a film making and the cold. I used it to set up the tripod.



Wegen Filmaufnahmen und der Kälte war vor dem Brandenburger Tor ausnahmsweise nicht viel los. Ich konnte also in Ruhe mein Stativ aufbauen.

The line was short due to the late hour. And it was cold, really.

Kurz vor Einlassschluss und wegen der Kälte war die Schlange für die Kuppel recht kurz.

The picture is taken through the outside windows of the house of parlametarians. The reflections of the glas are not so distracting.

Diese Bilder habe ich durch die Glasscheiben des Abgeordnetenhauses gemacht. Die Reflektionen fallen hier nicht sehr ins Gewicht.



Regierungsbezirk, Berlin, March 2010, HDR




The building across the water is a highlight for a photo tour. I liked it as an HDR.


Das Regierungsgebäude über das Wasser fotografiert ist sicher das Highlight vieler Foto-Touren. Als HDR gefällt es mir gut.



Vortex, Reichstag, Berlin, March 2010, HDR


Inside the dome of the Reichstag you can look from the top of the roof into the parliament hall. The vortex brings natural light into the room in the day.




Innerhalb der Kuppel des Reichstags kann man durch das Dach in den Plenarsaal sehen. Aus der Höhe und mit dem Trichter, der für die Beleuchtung mit Tageslicht sorgt, ergab das für mich ein interessantes Bild.
