Iceland lagoon

I know I showed you this image before. It was taken looking towards Jökulsarlón, the glacial lagoon.
When reviewing images, this one seemed worthy to dig back up.

Icelandic Lagoon

I know I did show many images of Jükullsarlón before, but I keep coming back to them.

Fox baby

I bet this fox baby, that I photographed a few years back in the wilderness of northern Iceland is a beautiful adult fox, roaming the hillside up there. The fur is probably starting to turn white this month, because, believe it or not: this is a polar fox and it is absolutely white in the winter.

Here the baby is right in front of the den and on the bottom you can see the pieces of bird wing it was eating of.

A house in the mountains

This is a backpackers' quater in the highlands of Iceland near Snaefells mountain (not Snaefellsnes).

We stayed the night there and engulfed ourselves in the natural hotpots that you see out infront of the house and to the side.

Road in the Sunshine

These roads in the empty landscape, lying in plain sunshine, just make me grab my camera.

Glacial River Land

Where the glacier retreats, vegetation starts out. The greens are as intense as the black of the vocanic rock is.

The View into the Blue

When driving through the high lands in Iceland, it is important to stay on the tracks that are established. Even if the area looks like a big gravel bed, this is glacial sediment that is conquered, slowly, by plants and animals and if you drive over it, you destroy the flora that is already estabilished.

This is the section between Snaefells snow cap and Vatnajökull glacier. The glacier is that white edge in the back ground. You can not believe how big it is, untill you are right there. And then from horizon to horizon, there is just that gigantic egde of ice.

Painted Land

Icelandic mountains are coming up in many different colors and give the impression that the land was painted by someone really creative.

Ice Bridge

When exploring the back side of Vatnajökull glacier in the Icelandic highlands we found this arching ice bridge in this vast and empty part of the rock desert.

Dettifoss Rainbow

The mighty Dettifoss in the north of Iceland was thundering down into the depth so massively, that your ears are roaring with the noise and you have to shout to talk to each other. At the same time, it was radiant with a fragile rainbow in the mist.

Seljalandsfoss

A winter visit to Seljalandsfoss brought us ice coatings on everything.

Iceland is beautiful in every season as far as I can tell. I want to go on a deep winter visit one day.

We at the Waterfall

Here we are - with a soaking wet camera after images taken here. The remote controlled image has a spec of water on just that spot covering me. Oh well.
