The long way to the door

This beautifully overgrown door made me wish to sit on one of those benches on a summer evening and read a book, sip a drink and hear the bumble bees in the flowers. Overly romantic anyone?

Hovering barn

I got to check out this barn in the timber frame house museum in Detmold. It is seemingly hovering above the ground on pointy rocks. Great way to keep it dry from underneath but a strange view, nonetheless.

Stove Time

This stove would be a dream to have and use. Not for my everyday cooking but for heating my house and cooking for special occasions.

Unfortunately you can not set these ones up anymore. Their exhaust values are not legal anymore. Where they have been in place for years they can remain. Everywhere else they can only be on display but not in use. What a shame.

Stormy skies

Stormy skies over Detmold. Do you spot the windmill in the back between the trees?

Icelandic Lagoon

I know I did show many images of Jükullsarlón before, but I keep coming back to them.

Historic Market Hall

In the northern coastal area of Brittany we got to check out this beautiful timber frame hall - a roof without walls, just a deeply drawn cover. Unfortunately we did not get to be there on a market day. I would have loved to see this place brimming with life.

Some beautiful doors

I love photographing doors and here I found some nicely framed red doors with interesting wood decorations.

Brittany, countryside.

Mont St. Michel in the evening sun

The Mont St. Michel is worl heritage and an iconic place - that is, of course, very touristy, but still worth a visit.

A gull at sunset

Even sea gulls stare into a sunset like this. Well, I do assume that it may have been staring at the water that was rushing in from the ocean to fill the bay of St Michel, waiting for fish.

Ornamental Signs

On Mont St. Michel there are many shops and restaurants that have a long history - if not for the individual buisness then for the building, the sight, and the tourists.

The Old and the New

Large buildings in Augsburg, seen from an even larger building. View from Perlach Tower in October.

In the Shades

I just liked the motive in this light - nothing about it. But I wanted to share.

Dreamy Light

One morning, about 2 weeks ago, I had to stop on my way to my work of the day, just to take this image here. The morning sun was pretty high already but the beams of light caught in the fog really pretty.

two lonely horses

These two lonely horses will probably spend a lot of time just between the two of them over the winter. This playground will not lie forgotten over the time, though. So they have some chance for company.

More leaves

the fall season is really colorful this year. I bet it is due to the early wintery temperatures middle of October and the warm high pressure times after that.

Foliage

The fall colors were really bright and shiny this year. That probably is due to the early cold snap and then the mild, sunny weather.

dynamic wood sculpture

We got to explore the church of St. Moritz, Augsburg, all the way to the front as there was just a visitation time for a group and choire there.

St Moritz

I really like the church of St. Moritz in Augsburg. It is so wonderfully plain and clean. A true change to all the ornamented decorations in the other churches and city hall.

The church used to be way more decorated and equipped but was rebuilt and remodeled in this plain and clean style.

The Golden Ceiling

Here is the most straight and well lit image that I managed of the ceiling of the golden hall in the city hall of Augsburg.

I used my 10 mm wide angle on my crop factor camera and got the camera pretty low to the floor. There was a chair setup in the room so I could get no lower than the seats without catching the chairs in the hall. But it was just enough.

National Register

Old National cash registers are found in museums everywhere. Their ornamental structure has something intriguing. This one is in the exhibit in the city hall of Augsburg about the town's partner cities.

Illusion Painting

There is a long tradition of illusion painting: pretending there is 3D building elements or pieces of art where there is just a flat wall. This illusion element is part of the decorations in the golden hall of the city hall of Augsburg.

A face of Gold

This is a piece of the ornamental decoration of the golden hall in the city hall of Augsburg: A face of gold.

Can you see Zugspitze?

We climbed the Perlach tower in Augsburg. And then you can see Zugspitze. Well, you can see it in good weather, which we did not have. We then did take a good look at the city and imagined the missing alpine panorama in the background.

Fuggers' house

This is an impressive gate to the Fugger house in Augsburg.

Jack Daniel's

I did not even know that there is something like this. But then I happened upon a Jack Daniel's pilgrimmage location ;)

Green House

The facade of this house in Augsburg was very overgrown but it was an orderly style of wild green over the house.

Perfect egg

This rock, I came across in Brittany on one of the northern beaches.

This shape is natural but looks so even that you would not expect nature to produce it on a rugged beach.
