The view down the path

The views on Mont St. Michel are overly historic, seen through European eyes. I had the feeling, when talking to other tourists there, that Americans and Asians had an entirely different feel about it.

An odd combination

This combination of carved stone and the some-what old-looking tap with the bottom attachment did not look quite right with me.

The Mountain Gate

This is the gate to Mont St. Michel. We lived in the hotel that you see just behind the wall. The place with the Windows you can see. The view was fabulous.

These menhirs formed a lovely alley of triplets in a field. Southern Brittany

Line up of sails

At the surfer beach there also were sailers with light weight boats. I like how they lined up in this shot.

This is a shot of a surfer's beach in Brittany. It is a seach quest to find the surfers in this shot, though.

Tongues of Wood

I really liked these church chair rows. The dragons, creatures, beasts were very detailed and animated. But where is the front one's tongue?

Historic Market Hall

In the northern coastal area of Brittany we got to check out this beautiful timber frame hall - a roof without walls, just a deeply drawn cover. Unfortunately we did not get to be there on a market day. I would have loved to see this place brimming with life.

Mont St. Michel in the evening sun

The Mont St. Michel is worl heritage and an iconic place - that is, of course, very touristy, but still worth a visit.

A gull at sunset

Even sea gulls stare into a sunset like this. Well, I do assume that it may have been staring at the water that was rushing in from the ocean to fill the bay of St Michel, waiting for fish.

Ornamental Signs

On Mont St. Michel there are many shops and restaurants that have a long history - if not for the individual buisness then for the building, the sight, and the tourists.

Perfect egg

This rock, I came across in Brittany on one of the northern beaches.

This shape is natural but looks so even that you would not expect nature to produce it on a rugged beach.

A lonely race horse

This was probably an outing for fun and not a training session. The horse coming by us was really scenic, though.
