The Books of the Library
This is a library in the east of Iceland. I just had to grab the impression when we came by, even though the light was not great anymore at this hour.

The Puffin Burrow
From the other side of the water in an ocean bay we saw this puffin land, walk into his burrow and re-appear just after. The whole show of this event is in this stretch of photos.

The stories along the way
When traveling you get to see a lot of stuff along the way. You lear about lots of things and you meet people.
But the thing that sticks in mind in the end are the stories along the way.
When hiking to the bird cliffs in Seydisfjördur in the Icelandic East Fjords last summer, we started out from the last house in the fjord, that is also a café and information center. Since we only hiked for a little while we were not intending to stay there for any length of time.
When we returned to our car, there was a man working outside on the terrasse and he greeted us from a distance.
Right after that his friendly dog was walking out from the house to check us out. We greeted the dog as well and continued to our car.
Then, though, the sheep was walking out towards us, making itself known by some calls as well. We didn't ever see this kind of a thing from a sheep.
But with a little hestitation it kept walking up to us untill it had really reached the car and was sniffing at the open drivers door.
This is the only guard sheep I ever met.

Summer Jump
Last year in Iceland we thought we would try these jumping photos that are so much in fashion, lately. Here we are on the hill crest behind Seydisfjördur in the East Fjords.
I totally love the shadow in this photo. And I did learn that these jumping poses are not that easy. My husband really has a lot of them down, though.

take the log for a walk
When arriving near our hotel in Edinburgh two weeks ago, we were dragging our luggage and walking across the road. I spotted this man on the pavement, dragging something behind him. When taking a closer look I saw that he was dragging a big log, roughly cut. This was most of the trunk of a tree and he had this on a rope, pulling it down the side of the road.
Why does he do this? Where is he going? Why is he transporting this log at all?
All I know is that I put down the luggage and grabbed my camera. Here is one shot I like of it.

Hohes Venn
When traveling through Belgium in March, we went to a high moore, called Hohes Venn, right at the Belgium and German border.
We got there in really cold wind and glaring sunlight but the snow on the ground made it a real winter experience.
Now that the snow is off the ground all over Europe, may I bring some of it back to you for today?

The squirrel inside the foodbox
We have this feeder hanging in our tree for the squirrel. And I lately showed the photos of how it found out how to get to the food.
Now it found out something new: It can climb into the food box and eat right in there.

The rooster
I did show a lot of wildlife, lately. So it's time for a change. Here is another shot of the rooster from Belgium.

Deer in the woods
While hiking around the easter weekend we had perfect conditions for spotting deer. It also helps to be tuned into seeing them. They hide really well.

the feeding
The sparrow chicks are all around our garden. I got to witness this really cute scene.
The mother sparrow was catching a May Beetle (chafer) in the hedge and feeding this really big bite to the little one. It took forever for the chick to gulp it down.

a chick
This little house sparrow chick is around our garden this week. I could not pass up the chance to photograph it more.

Nabu-Birdwatch
Nabu, the German nature protection organisation is organising a bird watch regularly. Last weekend was the hour of the garden birds.
You go out - in your garden, in a park or the like - and for one hour you count all the birds and list them by types. Then you report that with your location and help to form a large, nation wide statistic. This one hour has to be on the desginated weekend.
I participated from 9:30 to 10:30 on Saturday morning. I was intending to do that during an extended breakfast but there really was no time for eating.
In total I found 192 birds to record, 18 different species.
Of course I would not do something like this without a tele-lens on my camera and while hunting for good birds.
This white wagtail landed on the neigbours' roof. While I was shooting a series of photos of it, this insect flew into my frame and right back out. I am pretty sure the bird did not get it, but I spotted it in the picture later and realised what had changed the bird's pose that moment.

Up in the air
I will safe you from the endeavours of getting to the plane, but this view of wonderfully puffy tiny clouds I had, once I was up there. We were flying to Edinburgh for a long weekend last week. This was over the Neatherlands.

What Bird is This?
I just spotted and photographed this bird in my garden this morning while I was participating in the Hour of the Gardenbirds by Nabu (nature protection organisation in Germany).
Got you on camera
For a regular photocontest I lately took photos on the topic of retro technology.
Here is a photo of one of my old analogue cameras.
