Snarky Puppy in Dortmund

On 2 November Snarky Puppy was back in Dortmund and we had the tickets for the concert in Domizil.

Rothenburg's guard

In Rothenburg ob der Tauber, southern Germany, I met this friendly, though armoured guard. I thought it was funny to see him between all these flags... most of those countries were not even created when knights wore armours.

Augsburg

I was spending a weekend in Augsburg lately. Early in the morning I thought this was the right way to portrait a church in counterlight.

Perfect House

If you are ever looking for a house that stands all by itself, have you considered that houses alone on an island are prefect? I guess, a small house is not enough. But it is so cute.

Ages Old

This tree is ages old.

We visited the 1000 year old trees on Madeira on a foggy day. This added to the misterious feel and the thought of fairies or gnomes coming out of the thicket is not so far fetched, really.

Water Magic

For my regular photocontest I had the topic as "Water as Object".

Rocky Cliffs

We went to Madeira this year in spring and had a great time. The rocky cliffs on the east edge of the island are really scenic.

Toy Town

We stopped in Toy Town, Massachusetts, also known as Winchendon. The display on the village lawn is really scenic.

Gold Finch

These gold finches came to the feeding place of their choice. The sun flowers were getting more and more empty day by day.

Not anymore

These old fuel stations are strewn along the country side roads. This one has been closed for a while.

Sleepy Valley

We came by Sleepy Valley Road somewhere in the country side of Vermont. And this is the farm right next to it.

Coke Vendor

I love the old designs of Coke vending machines and coolers.

Vermont Mill

Right next to the Vermont Country Store :)

A neat old water mill, set up as a museum piece as far as I know.

New England

Red barns... as in Skandinavia. But different. You find a lot of them in New England and they really add to the look of the rural landscape.

Park Hill

We came by Park Hill Meeting House. I did not only take an image of the house itself but also of the information sign. Instead of writing the information in my own words, I show you the sign.

Glowing Ideas

Trollfjord

The boat ride into and out of trollfjord is a local classic that you should not miss out on if you stay on Lofoten.

Bird Cliffs

The bird cliffs of Helgoland are tightly packed with birds: Guillemots, seagulls and gannets.

Chick Walk

On a ridge of rock on Helgoland's bird cliffs a seagull mother is feeding her 3 chicks. I love how they blend in. I bet of all those people standing up on the cliff only very few noticed the chicks.

Gannet Romance

These gannets were almost cuddeling on the cliff side. I caught them in this perfect pose during their movements and love the shot.

For once

For once I am showing an image of myself. I thought I needed to do that for a change.

Warm Days

Now that fall is coming, I have a summery image for you:

Houses on Madeira are southern, colorful and often seem to have been extended a few times, by the looks of them.

Within the Tunnel

When hiking along the Levadas on Madeira we did take several trips that involved passing through the tunnels, partially for quite a long stretch. They can be narrow or wider, none of them is really big, partially you hit your head and arms all the time, others are more comfortable to walk.

All of them - as far as I know - are not lit up and the daylight fades after a few meters in. Good headlamps and flash lights are essential.

The Tow-Truck

We found the tow truck from Cars, recreated and sitting right there next to the road. We just had to stop and grab a picture!  Keene, NH, August 2014.

This trailer has been sitting in the woods for quite a while. This is what it looks like in its partial decay. 

Munchkin on the Flower

This flower-feeding chipmunk was really patient with the photographer, as you can tell. The seed were just too good.

The chipmunks were felling absolutely happy ontop of the sunflowers. I think next to the abundance of food there they loved the overview.

I love the creative dress up of the window next to Quincy Market in downtown Boston.

Downtown Boston

We went on a stroll in downtown Boston in the best possible weather when we spent time around town in August.

Duck Tours

The Boston Duck Tours are legendary. Amphibious vehicle take you around the thick traffic of Boston then onto the Charles River in one smooth ride. The drivers are all real characters and make the ride an entertaining event plus all the sight seeing that you get to do. It is real fun and I can truely recommend it!

Dinos

The Museum of Science, Boston, has a large display of dinosaurs. 

In The Eye Of The Shark

The feeling of a shark looking at you - even through thick glass - is somewhat strange. This one was looking pretty innocent, though.

This guy - seen at the New England Aquarium, Boston - had about the weirdest look I ever expected.

Humming Bird's Flight

The little humming birds were just so cute how they hovered around the flowers, buzzed up and down and were poking their beaks into flowers - but also into the corn flowers in the field behind them.
