Road Side Chappel

This chappel on the side of the road, we came by a few times already. I took the time on Thursday to take an image of it.

The Pewit

This pewit was all alone in one field. At the moment the fields around our town are full of these funny birds. I love how their wings look overly wide while in flight.

Nothing to see here?

I found this blockage across the entry to a field. Nothing to see here? Well. Strangely it has started to sprout green and looks alive.

The temple is painted

I don't know if you remember my image of the Hindu Temple in Hamm

now I went back (again) after the painting that was going on for a while was finished. This is how it looks now. I originally thought the temple towers were supposed to be white. Now I like them much better painted.

The weather was much better this time, but kind of simmilar, wasn't it?

Cow Field

We hiked by this really pretty field with gorgeous cows and a really pretty tree.

Lippeauen

We went for an excursion on the side of the Lippe. Beautifuly quiet views.

The Gull and the Fish

We saw this gull taking off out of the North Sea (well, I barely missed it taking off) and flying away with the fish it just caught.

Kites all over the sky

Seeing so many kites in the sky is just very thrilling. We did fly our kite later, but not here.

Oysters

We came to Cancale, north shore of Brittany after we left Mont St. Michel. The oysteres were pretty much the first thing we got to see.

Evening Mood

This is a moment to remember. This photo was taken up on the wall of Mont St. Michel at sunset. I was trying to get more than one raying highlight from the sun. With the tidal flats below us, this was working out when I found the propper place.

Here is the mountain in its full glory. Without the cars and busses that used to block the entry. The new bridge is finished and the landscape will now change.

Gates

This is the gate - including a draw bridge - on Mont St. Michel. Our hotel - La Mère Poulard - is just to the left in this picture.

Evening Sun

The Mont St. Michel is bathing in the evening sun.

I found this door to a very slim building. The evening sun was behind the building and was shining through the door.

Evening Sun on the Mountain

The Mont St. Michel at sunset - this over shooting of sunlight into the lens was not that easy to adjust and to find the right spot and moment. I do love lense flare, but not if it falls onto unfitting parts of the image. But gladly I got my shot.

The mountain's shadow

An interesting observation on Mont St. Michel: With the sun at a relatively low angle the mountain casts a shadow onto the tidal flats that is really distinguishable and looks very much like the mountain itself from a distance. The absolutely flat surrounding of the mountain makes this show up really well.

The birdies

The gulls and ravens are dominating the view of the mountain. These two guys are hanging out ontop of some roof decorations as the night falls.

Here is a view down from the mountain towards the tidal flats. A bunch of chaotic roofs and steep views to look at.

Holy Grail!

The forrest of King Arthur, the knights of the round table, the holy grail, and so on. Merlin's grave.
Sorry if I sound disrespectful. 

I basically know about these people and storys. But I am no fan and don't know details. When traveling through Brittany, though, we came by Paimpont and decided to check out the area.

Well, we noticed the beautiful woodland and cool landscape, yes. Then we came to Paimpont. And saw, that there was not much to see. For lack of options we entered a souvenir shop and looked around. Untill we noticed that for the rest of the day we would smell like patchouli and other incense.

The entire main road was lined with shops that smelled this way.

That is way out of my comfort zone and so we made a bee line out the gates, into the car (not my car in the picture) and off through the woods.

That was that. Paimpont does not have to expect us back, I guess.

The biggest Omlette

La Mère Poulard is famous for the omlettes. Yes, sure, you would think. Untill you see them. And you see them being made.
I will post video about the process, but for now, I just want to make you hungry.

The keys

We were staying in a hotel by the water in Roscoff, Brittany. Roscoff is a harbour town I will write more about. But for now: just this little sneak peek at the key board in our hotel:

Towering the Mountain

Mont St. Michel is an abbey, not a castle. Hard to teach to some, but actually I get why: it is fortified strongly and well protected.

This is the abbey that is towering on top of the mountain.

Crêperie

On Mont St. Michel there is only one road. More than one little staircase, one little pathway goes here and there, but basically there is only that one road.

Along that road we found this beautiful place to have breakfast. 

Inside the chappel

This chappel is located on Mont St. Michel, France.

We walked in and as our eyes are getting used to the lower light, we saw a few people in the benches by the entry. They had their heads bend down and looked like they were praying. Several Asian people in a row.

I was about to turn around and leave so that I do not disturb them. Then I saw that they were all typing away on their smart phones. So I went into the chappel and took my images, including this one.

 

La Mère Poulard

We have made it to reserve rooms at La Mère Poulard. We spent 2 nights and we got to explore the mountain and the sights pretty well. This is an image of our hotel from a tower in the mountain's walls.

We have been staying at the before last room you can see in the roof section. With the great view, I showed you in yesterday's post.
