A lonely race horse

This was probably an outing for fun and not a training session. The horse coming by us was really scenic, though.

Brittany cottage

This is a typical cottage for the area of Brittany. Probably this is someone's summer home or maybe a permanent residence. The area seemed to be mixed use.

A create of Belon Oysters

In the Port of Belon we sat down at the chateau when we saw this stack of oysters tumbeling out of a crate that was set up.

They were delicious and we really enjoyed the time there and the view.

The Mouth of Belon

The Belon is world famous. Well, Belon oysters are very famous, special and expensive. Few people around the earth will actually know why those oysters are even called that way, that it is a river. And even fewer people will know what makes these oysters so differnet from others and what determines their taste.

I am no oyster expert, that is why I will leave the research about the Belon oysters to you. But here is a photo of the mouth of the Belon, right at the edge of the Atlantic ocean. And this is where the magic happened.

Roscoff at night

Roscoff is a harbour town in Brittany that thrives on ferry traffic.

The old tools are waiting, covered in cobwebs and dust, while the sun breaks through the window. And here we go: Pliers of different shapes.

Tools of the Trade

When doing jobs in crafting, there is no way around having the tools of the trade.

Old tools just have more character.

Large House in black and white

In the middle of the Brittany country side we saw this house on the side of the highway. We spontaneously took the next exit and went to look for the location. It was sitting on the side of a field and part of a very large farm estate.

I think, this image was very well presented in black and white.

Great Magic

Well the title promisses more than I can deliver.

We found this metal cut out of Merlin in the street and I took a picture of it. Then I removed the stand he was mounted on in Photoshop.

Here you go: Magically placed on the street - just not by me. While it may fool you at first sight, I will not really make you believe that the image is real. Well it is. Just the Merlin-Figure is not.

Merlin

We were traveling through the woods that the legendary Merlin was roaming and where his grave is supposed to be. And all those stories, I can really not recount.

But Sir Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table, Merlin and all his kin were very largely dominating the area.

Quiberon

The beaches and shores of the Quiberon peninsula are very diverse. From the beaches and cliff sides shown in the posts of the last days to the rocky bay areas with crashing surf here.

Surfer's Paradise

This section of Quiberon is a surfer's paradise if you ask the crowd out in the sea. Just look at them lying on their boards out there. I have seen people master much bigger waves but since I am not taking part in the sport myself, I can not tell if this spot was actually pleasant to master or not. I just know that it is a place people travel to from afar.

We came to find the gate in the rocks.

The curve in the Beach

I feel like this beach is curling up like a Fibonacci sprial. And then there are the 2 people and that dog. They almost complete the back curl for me.

A grave of Rocks

Near Carnac, Brittany, we came across several of these sites of rock graves, mostly exposed. Open for visitors. You just have to take the effort of hiking there. This one was at the end of a longer path through mud and thorns. But it was truely worth it.

Sheep and Menhirs

The fields of menhirs in Brittany are not all equally impressive with gigantic rocks and large, visible lines. This field here did have a lot of the menhirs, but the middle, anyways, had smaller rocks. Multiple rows of them, but not so tall.

There were sheep grasing in between the rocks, which most likely is the the absolute best way to keep the fields in shape to expose the rocks.

Another Door

I love photographing doors. This one was in the church yard in the deep shade of the church and as far as I can tell it did belong to the abbey that used to be next to the church. Now the building is in use but I did not find out what for.

Church yard

This church was also in Brittany. Not far from the one I showed yesterday.

Brittany Towns

In a small town in northern Brittany, we watched the birds for a while as they were flying around the church tower. Puns about bats in the belfry came up, of course.

We lately spend a day at Cologne Media Park. The weather was beautiful and I took some shots.

Carried into safety

We just stopped in a small village when we saw this tiny hedgehog move towards the busi main road and cars were coming up fast. I stood in the road - just on the side - so that the cars would see us and not hit the hedgehod.
Then I used a calm moment to snap a few shots of him. He seemed nicely calm.

We then picked him up with a tshirt for padding and carried him across the road and into a field on the other side.

We hope that this saved him and he had a great time in the field. It seemed to us that he was headed there when we encountered him.

Baloon Day

This summer I happend to find a baloon as it was flying over a field nearby. I got out, chased after it and followed it across another field untill I got it.
I took the card off and wrote to the person who sent it out. I even included a picture of it with the area I found it in and some details.

This is about 2 month ago and I wonder if I will hear back from her at any point. I may not but I hope that person had joy getting the card back only a few days after sending it off into the skies.

I often come by this tree - it almost is a location of its own. Such a massive and old base and overboarding branches.

Donkey Time

This cute little donkey was peacefully grazing by the side of the forrest. Getting to a low position between the fence lines made for a nice angle on the image.

Detmold Museum

We took a day trip to a museum that features timber frame houses from north rhine westfalia.
I really like this hovering house.

Them Pears

The tree was full of all those yummy pears. We got pretty far on the harvest but had no chance to empty the tree.
